Bella Serata, which means "we had a beautiful evening", is a Music company owned and operated by Angelo Fraietta.
Dr Angelo Fraietta started playing the guitar at the age of 15 while completing an Electronics Technician apprenticeship in the RAAF. Since that time, music and electronics have been an integral part of Angelo's creative being. The two have been drawn intimately together through Music Technology through the development of MIDI controllers, open sound control, and control voltage sensors Collaborative ProjectsWhile an undergraduate student, Angelo's expert knowledge of electronics allowed him to collaborate with other students, which led to the development of the Laser Harp by Alex Cockburn, and the Virtual Drum Kit by Guy Robinson. The Laser Harp is an instrument that is performed by cutting laser beams with the body, while the Virtual Drum Kit entails a performer playing an invisible drum kit. Angelo has also composed and performed various quadraphonic sound-scapes based on his Christian beliefs. More recently, Angelo has collaborated with other artists including George Khut's Cardio-morphologies and Anne Norman' Bell Garden. Instrument BuilderAngelo's introduction to instrument building was his development of a compositional tool for personal computers called Algorithmic Composer, which enables composers to construct musical structures by connecting virtual objects with virtual patch cables. The performer can then interact with the structures using a mouse, keyboard, and Midi device. Angelo was awarded the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts Award in Theoretical Studies and a Bachelor of Arts (Music) with First Class Honours. In addition to software instruments, Angelo has ventured into the development of physical instruments. Some of the instruments include the Dumb Controller, a Control Voltage (CV) to Midi -- Midi to CV Midi controller; the Smart Controller, a portable hardware device that allows performers to create music using Programmable Logic Control, which capable of reducing the number of electronic modules required, particularly the requirement of a laptop computer, in a live performance; and more recently, a CV to Open Sound Control (OSC) converter under the auspices of the Australia Council. ResearchAngelo recently completed a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Western Sydney at the School of Contemporary Arts. His expertise in both computer science and creative arts has placed him high demand. Angelo is currently the director of Atteiarf Pty Ltd, which provides contract software engineering for both the software and arts communities. Some of the companies that have used his services include Pacific Outsourcing Solutions, and Activated Space. |
